Fashion Trust Arabia cancels its 5th edition over ‘humanitarian crisis in Palestine’

DUBAI: Jordanian Romanian footwear maven Amina Muaddi has unveiled her latest collection, titled Drop 3/23. Muaddi’s latest drop comes days after the eponymous label released a campaign celebrating its iconic designs, which were photographed either made out of — or encased in — ice.

With art direction by the creative director of Fenty Beauty Jahleel Weaver and photography by Paul Kooiker, the images depict the brand’s most popular styles preserved in ice.

In her latest collection, the designer brought back the ballet flat with a contemporary twist, featuring lace-up square oblique-toed ballerinas in both classic black and pristine white. She elevated the dainty classics with crystal-encrusted straps.

For those seeking a bit of height without sacrificing comfort, Muaddi offers a selection of block-heeled pumps.

The color palette is as diverse as it is glamorous, with options ranging from angelic white and reflective silver to sultry leather black, delicate satin pink and timeless brown.

Muaddi extended her creativity to slippers, unveiling four styles: Alexa crystal slippers in silver suede with white crystals, glass slippers in almond and black shades and a white satin pair for the casual bride.

The classics received a fresh twist too, with new colorways of the Ami pumps, Gilda sandals, and her signature flared heel shoes.

Boots also make a bold entrance in this collection, with the Marine Boot Texas Pony taking the spotlight in black-and-white calf hair. Meanwhile, thigh-high options in latex, buttery napa, and sleek black croc provide variety.

Beyond footwear, Muaddi introduced an array of shoulder bags, clutches and mini purses.

The collection, which was manufactured in Italy, retails from $690 to $3,515 and is available online and in stores.

The comments section on the label’s Instagram account was flooded with interest about the latest collection, as well as Palestinian flag emojis and comments thanking the designer for her stance on the current Israeli military campaign in Gaza.

“Gaza is bleeding and it’s unbearable to watch,” the designer wrote on Instagram last week, alongside images with quotes about the ongoing conflict.

Muaddi launched her eponymous footwear line in August 2018, about one year after departing from her role as co-founder and creative director of luxury footwear label Oscar Tiye.

The creator also helped design the shoes for Rihanna’s Fenty collection. The collaboration received the Collaborator of the Year award at the 34th edition of the FN Achievement Awards in 2020.

A year later, she landed a spot on Women’s Wear Daily and Footwear News’ 50 Most Powerful Women list.

The shoemaker’s label has garnered a loyal list of famous fans, including Dua Lipa, Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner and Hailey Bieber Baldwin.
